October 7th 2009 How To Overcome Anxiety Attack Symptoms
Beginning to realize that you have the potential to overcome your anxiety attack symptoms introduces another element: responsibility. Through accepting it carries the potential for the Fates to determine things for you. Instead, you can make them happen in whichever way you choose, whatever is right for you. Ah, freedom at last,
But what a revolutionary concept this is! Society is geared towards us not accepting responsibility. Let’s take the doctor’s consulting room as an example - your doctor will tell you what the problem is with your health (assuming he or she can find anything wrong with you) and you are expected to follow their instructions to the letter without you taking responsibility for any illness.
It is assumed that the illness (anxiety attacks or whatever else it may be) has somehow happened to us, brought about by an outside agent, and that it is going to take another outside agent, i.e. the doctor/pill/therapist/surgeon, to make us well again. We appear to play no part in the treatment. We become, and stay, ‘patient’. We abdicate our powers and yet again fail to seize the opportunity to realize more of our potential. Doctors don’t encourage us to even try.
